Employee Assistance Program and Contact Officers
We are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. We recognise that from time to time, you may need additional support if you are experiencing personal or work-related problems. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides free, confidential counselling services for all employees and their immediate family members. We also have a network of Contact Officers across the business who can be the first point of contact for anyone who has a work-related concern relating to discrimination, harassment, bullying or other work-related issues.

Career Pathways

We offer a Graduate Program, Summer Internship Program, and Scholarship Program to provide university students with unique experience in the diverse world of water and sewerage and to help them forge their career.
Graduate Program (applications have closed for 2023)
The TasWater Graduate Program is a 2 year structured, competency-based program with three x 8 month rotations across various areas of our business. The 2023 program has opportunities for graduates from Engineering, ICT, Environmental Science, Accounting and Media and Communications disciplines.
As a TasWater graduate you can expect:
- Rotations and experiences in real roles and projects, doing meaningful work.
- Support to build the critical capabilities and skills to grow a successful career.
- Guidance from our network of graduate champions and mentors.
- Graduate networking events to help you connect and build your professional relationships.

Summer Internship Program (applications have closed for 2022/2023)
The TasWater Summer Internship Program is a 12 week summer program where UTAS students gain exposure and work experience in the unique water and wastewater industry.
For 2022/2023 we have 10 interns working across the business in Engineering, Business Performance, Data and Analytics, Digital and Technology, and Project Delivery.

Steve Balcombe Scholarship Program (applications open soon!)
The TasWater Steve Balcombe Scholarship is available to Tasmanian students commencing full-time study in an area relevant to TasWater's core activities – engineering, environmental science or earth science. This scholarship allows recipients to gain insight and experience in the water industry and participate in real projects with real outcomes to improve the delivery and quality of water, protection of the environment and to improve the essential services we all take for granted.
The 2022 Steve Balcombe Scholarship recipient is Launceston student Hannah Goss. Hannah completed year 12 at Newstead College in 2021 and is now enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours at the University of Tasmania.
